I Woke Up This Way Wednesday

Good Morning!!!

I was SO excited to sleep in this morning. I have been up early every day this past week, including the weekend! And I have to wake up early every day until Sunday this coming week! So I have been savoring every minute of this beautiful PNW morning. I rolled out of bed at 10am and it was wonderful. Sun is shining and it feels like spring here, and it's only January! Hell, I even wore a dress this week and was perfectly warm! I mean, I LOVE the winter and the snow but once I came to terms with the fact that snow isn't in the cards for us, I decided to fully embrace spring and I can't wait! Warm weather, sunshine, camping, (lots and lots of camping.) I'm ready! But anyways, before I managed to roll myself out of bed I took a few snapshots of my groggy, tired face, messy hair and all  to share with the rest of the world. It was then that I literally found a feather peeking out from the top of my head! Lol How does that even happen?!

Enjoy the rest of your day! :)

Hair Tip Tuesday: Big curls

Hey Ladies!

So today's hair tip is quite simple but I'm going to throw it out there anyways. This is for those of you who want those big voluptuous curls!

List of things you need:

•1" to 1 1/2" curling iron. I use a 1 1/2" Babyliss.

•Heat protectant. I use Loma's Nourishing Oil.

•Hair Spray. I use Color Proof's strong hold hairspray. It smells like Christmas! Literally...

Step 1:
You want to start by sectioning your hair out into 2 sections by splitting it down the middle from your forehead to your nape.

Step 2:
Starting from the back of the section and working your way forward, you're going to grab 2 inch sections of hair and curl away from the face. This means that the prong on the barrel should be placed in the front of the section of hair and will be rolled to the back. (On the right side of the head, you'll roll it to the right. On the left side of the head, you'll roll it to the left.) There's no rhyme or reason to this process, just grab a good chunk of hair wherever you feel like. The bigger the section, the looser the curls.

Step 3:
You're going to do this same process on the other side of the head with your second section. This time the barrel will still be in the front of each section but you will be rolling the opposite way from the other side. (Still away from the face.)

Step 4:
After you have curled all of your hair, you want to run your fingers through everywhere, breaking up the curls. This will give it a much softer and natural look. At this point, you can tease it if you want or just leave it natural.

Step 5:
Apply a light coating of hairspray all around and you're good to go! :)

Hopefully this helped you guys a little, if you'd like to see a detailed video on this just comment down below and let me know! And if you liked what you read then don't forget to click that subscribe button on the side. :)

Liebster Award

I have been nominated by the beautiful Lauren at Lauren's Beauty  for the Liebster Award. (Thank you for that!) A Liebster award is an award amongst new bloggers to help boost marketing throughout them.

So here are the rules:
  • Link the person who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions given by the nominator.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
  • Create 11 questions for the nominees to answer.
  • Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.

My questions from Lauren:

1. Which make up Brush in your collection can you not live without?
My Real Techniques expert face brush! I use it every single day to apply my foundation and I love it!

2. Coffee or Tea?
Anyone who knows me knows that in my world, there isn't even life before coffee! It's my saving grace in the morning. Without it, I'm a major bitch.

3. Which skincare brand is your favourite?
I'm pretty obsessed with Philosophy right now!

4. If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be?
Garth Brooks. Hands down! He is such an amazing man as well as artist. I have listened to him since before I was even born! I even have a tattoo inspired by him on my ankle.

5. What is your current favourite item of clothing that you own?
Well, it's not the most fashionable of items, but being from the PNW I am a huge Seahawks fan! And seeing as we just locked in our spot for the Super Bowl for the second year in a row... My favorite article of clothing would have to be my hawks beanie and infinity scarf that I got for christmas this year! :) Go Hawks!

6. What was your most favourite concert / gig / show you have been to and why?
This past summer, a group of us drive down to a little place called Sweet Home, Oregon for their annual country music festival. Oregon Jamboree. It was a 3 day concert weekend filled with camping, music, games, lots of drinking, and lake days. It was an absolute blast! I keep looking at all the pictures we took and I already can't wait for this year.

7. From your current collection of make up, what make up item do you wish you had never bought and why?
Rimmel's concealer stick. I usually prefer liquid concealer and this one came off too cakey, like clay almost.

8. What are you currently reading? (Book or Magazine is fine)
I just finished the two books 'If I Stay' and 'Where She Went' and am currently searching for a new book to read. Any suggestions?! I'm a total book worm.

9. What do you love and what do you hate about the beauty community as a whole?
I love how everyone is so supportive of each other, I love that everyone has the same goal which is ultimately to make others feel beautiful and feel great about themselves, to give people the confidence they deserve. At least that's always been my goal. However, what I hate about it is when people who don't have any knowledge on the subject will put their 2 cents in and reccomended certain products to so many people that they don't even know about. For instance, when someone who is not a professional hair stylist reccomendeds a product like Pantene or something to followers who trust them. They don't know how damaging a product like that really is on the hair. We should stick to what we know.

10. If you had to wear one pair of shoes for the rest of your life, what pair would that be and why?
I would have to say my Hunter boots. They are so versatile! They keep you warm and dry, but they are also very stylish!

11. Who is your favourite actor and actress?
This question is always so tough!
Actor: I love John Travolta. I always have since I was little. There's just something about him, I can't seem to look away when he's on screen.
Actress: Julia Roberts. She is such a classic beauty! She's mesmerizing.

Here are my 11 nominations:

Kirsty Liegh
Jessica Chelsea
Lora Frosting
Sarah Lillian
Jasmine Harding
Jennifer Polly
Chloe White
Joksies's Closet
The Day In The Life Of...

My questions for you are:
1:What made you start blogging?
2:What is your favorite beauty brand and why?
3:What was your biggest irrational fear from childhood?
4:What is your favorite holiday and why?
5:Who is your biggest influence/hero in life?
6:Where is your favorite place to vacation?
7:What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
8:What is your favorite show to binge watch?
9:What song can you not listen to without dancing like a crazy person?
10:What is your favortie color of lipstick?
11:What hair product can you not live without?

I Woke Up This Way Wednesday

Good morning!
So it was brought to my attention the other day by a good friend of mine that beauty blogger/vloggers are known to post all these glamorous pictures of themselves. I mean, DUH, we're beauty bloggers. That's what it's all about! But she was curious as to what all these beautiful girls looked like underneath it all, and she had a great point. I feel it is important to share with our viewers and readers and everyone for that matter, the real us as well. I am not claiming I am beautiful by any means, and I am not one to wear much makeup on a regular day to day basis anyway, but any kind of makeup, no matter how minimal will still alter the appearance at least a little. That's what it's designed for. To enhance our natural beauty. So I have decided to do a weekly "I woke up this way Wednesday" post to show everyone the natural, vulnerable, not so cute side. I mean, no one wants to be seen in the early hours of the morning, but I think it would be a great post/segment, whatever you want to call it, for other beauty bloggers to adopt and share. I know there are quite a few who do things like this already but not nearly enough in my opinion. So here is my hot mess self this morning, puffy eyes, messy hair, the whole shebang.

As you can see, I am NOT a morning person as I cling to my cup of coffee like its my last saving grace. God bless Nathan for waking me up with coffee most days. He's a Godsend... Really. He'll even bring it to the bedside and literally waft the air into my face untill the smell wakes me up. He's quite perfect. And I'm quite spoiled. ;) So there it is! I encourage all other beauty bloggers to join me in this segment, and everyone in general! Just embrace the natural you every now and then and show the world, cause you are beautiful just the way you are!

Hair Tip Tuesday

Good morning!
I hope everyone is enjoying their morning. Maybe you're just waking up, maybe you're on your second cup of coffee by now, or maybe you're still in bed. I would be extrememly jealous if you are. You stay there as long as you can... cuddle up in those blankets all warm and cozy. There isn't anything out in that world that is calling your name or making you get out of bed. No job to get to, no house cleaning to do, no one to make breakfast for, no shower to be had, just you... and your pillow... and your comfy bed... Yeah, wouldn't that be the life!
However, the reality for me is that I had to be up at 6:30 this morning to be at work by 7:30, or else I would definitely still be sleeping in MY comfy, warm and cozy bed. It's only 9am... But anyone that knows me knows that I am NOT a morning person. Nathan refers to me as a gargoyle before i've had my first cup of coffee. I'd say it's pretty accurate. Thank God for coffee!
Anyways... enough about my morning. Any of you ever wake up late? No time to wash your hair like you had planned on? Or maybe you just straight up dont feel like doing anything about that oily mess of a head you have this morning. There are more important things to worry about in the morning! Like COFFEE! I feel ya... so what is the fastest trick to fix those oily roots and run out the door? This guy right here:

You can just as easily use dry shampoo. (I'm always shocked at how many of my clients have never heard of dry shampoo!) However, I have yet to find a dry shampoo that I really LOVE yet, or else I would reccommend it to you. Therefore I dont have any at my house, so I use baby powder! It works just as well if not even better! I typically only wash my hair every 3 to 4 days. (No, it's not weird. Totally normal.) Natural oil build up is good for your scalp and your hair. All you every day washers out there are just drying all that out, which leads to itchy and flaky scalps and dry hair. And if you are one of those people that just HAVE to wash every day... well that is where the baby powder (or dry shampoo) comes in! All you have to do it just sprinkle a little on your scalp and massage it in with your fingers and you are good to go!

Oh, and for all my blonde friends out there: If you have a little grow out that is just starting to bug you but it's not quite time for a retouch yet, baby powder will be your best friend! It lightens up the natural color just a bit to help it blend in with the rest.

I feel like it is such a staple in any product collection. It will change your life, or at least ease your morning. ;) Not only will baby powder soak up that oil and leave you with clean looking hair but it will revamp your hair in general, bringing it back to life. So if you haven't tried it yet, then hopefully this will persuade you to! Best of all, it's super cheap! :)

Comment down below if you've tried it before or how it works for you. I'd love to hear your feedback. Everyone enjoy the rest of your day! :)
